If you are in an accident and are unable to communicate, will anyone know you have pets at home that require care? This company provides a plastic card which may be kept on your key ring, identifying you as a pet owner. The toll-free number connects emergency personnel caring for you to a service which notifies the pet guardian you have listed to care for your pets while you are not able to do so.

Next year the same company will have a pet cell phone collar. This technology enables you to call your pet and allow him/her to hear your voice but more practically, a GPS locator allows you to locate your pet with simple software. It also allows someone who has found your pet to press a button on the collar to call your cell phone.

WHAT’S NEW IN OUR WEB SITE LIBRARIES (since last month)

BENAZEPRIL
This medication can be used in the treatment of kidney protein loss in cats, especially if there is accompanying high blood pressure. As with most things, it has pros and cons. Visit this page in The Pharmacy Center for more information.

MALIGNANT THYROID TUMORS
Thyroid malignancy requires special attention as surgery is frequently not a possible treatment option. Luckily, the thyroid tumor's need to sequester iodine makes it vulnerable to radiotherapy. For more information, check out the newest page in The Pet Web Library.

INTERFERON ALPHA
Genetic engineering has brought us the availability of numerous complicated proteins that could otherwise never have been synthesized. The interferons are proteins secreted by cells of the immune system to communicate with other cells, regulating the immune response. The overall effect can be either antiviral or generally immunostimulating depending on the dose. Read more about it on this page in The Pharmacy Center
