Home AgainHomeAgain has upgraded their microchip registration to include several new services.

 For only $14.99 a year, you receive:

 

  • FREE ANIMAL POISON CONTROL CONSULTATIONS
    If your pet's microchip is registered with HomeAgain and you have any questions about poisons at any time 24 hours a day, call 1-888-HomeAgain and you will be connected with ASPCA National Animal Poison Control where a veterinary toxicologist will advise you and provide free follow-up to you or your veterinarian (us). A consultation includes highly specific treatment instructions and normally would cost $60 were you to call them directly at (888) 426-4435. This means even if your pet never gets lost, your microchip registration can still save your pet's life.
     
  • $3000 IN LOST PET INJURY INSURANCE
    If your pet is registered with HomeAgain and your pet gets lost and becomes injured while lost, your pet's medical care is covered up to $3000. To activate this benefit you must call 1-888-HomeAgain and request it. HomeAgain is a separate company from the insurance company and cannot share any of your personal information with any other company so they cannot activate your insurance for you. As soon as your pet is registered, call and get signed up for coverage.
     
  • PROACTIVE LOST PET ALERTS
    If your pet gets lost, HomeAgain provides a template for lost posters and faxes photo alerts to members of its network in your area (shelters and veterinary hospitals) to help locate your pet.
     
  • PLUS YOUR PET'S MICROCHIP IS REGISTERED IN A DATABASE AVAILABLE 24 HOURS A DAY.
    If your pet is ever lost and brought to the animal shelter or a veterinarian’s office, a quick scan will reveal the microchip number and a quick call to the 24 hour database will let them call you to let you know your pet has been found. If your pet still has their collar on, the HomeAgain tag will let anyone who finds your pet (even if they don’t have a hand scanner) call the HomeAgain database to alert you your that your pet has been found. The database registration is for a lifetime, even if you stop paying the annual fee of $14.99.

At the Mar Vista Animal Medical Center we were surprised to find that only about 50% of the microchips we have implanted had been registered by their owners. While an unregistered microchip number can be traced to our hospital where WE have a database of what pet it belongs to, we are not open 24 hours and when your lost pet has been found time may be of the essence. We now register implanted HomeAgain microchips at our hospital the day they are implanted.
