All dental procedures must be scheduled in advance.
There is limited space and limited time, so book your appointments
early to make sure you can take advantage of this terrific offer!
Any dentals scheduled by March 15, 1999 will qualify for the special.

Note: The difference between the “bare bones” clinic-style anesthesia and the Full Monitoring package is the amount of monitoring provided for your pet while under anesthesia. The “clinic-style” is the minimum monitoring as you would expect from a low-cost animal spay and neuter clinic. The Full Monitoring package includes the latest monitoring technology to make sure that general anesthesia is safe and routine, and is the standard we will use unless the pet owner specifically declines the Full Monitoring package and accepts the additional risks to their pet.

For a complete description of the monitoring technology used at our hospital,
take a look at the
“What’s New for November 98” page in our What’s New Archives.

We Welcome Mo

Our newest animal technician here at Mar Vista Animal Medical Center is Mo Daney.

Born and raised in California, Mo worked as a cosmetologist and make-up artist for five years before her love of animals brought her to the veterinary hospital business, where she has been working for 8 years, first as an animal bather, then as a receptionist and an animal technician. At home, Mo cares for her own pets: a Rottweiller named Nikkadeemus, two cats (Leo and Hook), two birds (Savannah and Sibil) and a Ball Python snake, Kiliyan.

Last Month for Heartworm Study

Heartworm Graphic (courtesy of Merck)
For the past two years, our hospital has been participating in a heartworm study conducted by the University of California at Davis. Heartworm is a deadly problem in other areas of the country, but so far it has traditionally been dismissed as “not significant” in Southern California.

The UC Davis study has been trying to document the true instance of heartworm disease in dogs in this area, and to determine if the several cases of heartworm disease found here portends a future epidemic. To determine the true instance of heartworm, to track its progression and to be able to recommend a rational policy for heartworm prevention in Southern California, the UC Davis study has been testing thousands of dogs for heartworm disease.

Because of our hospital’s participation in the study, we have been able to offer the test to determine if your dog has heartworm disease for only $10 (normally $34), plus a free six-month supply of heartworm preventative (normally $13-$40) to all dogs being tested. The study is about to come to a close, so this is the last month to take advantage of the special prices and contribute to the research.

TEST YOUR DOG TODAY!

For an overview of heartworm Disease, visit our Heartworm Information Center (in the Pet Web Library).

    ENUCLEATION
Enucleation means “removal of the eye.” If this is an option that may benefit your pet, this site will answer some questions concerning common reasons this procedure may be necessary, what to expect after surgery and what complications to be wary of.
