Joyce Hosea

Amy Smith

Joyce is currently attending UCLA and plans on becoming a veterinarian in the  future. On the weekends, she goes home to Chino Hills where she  spends time with her dog Belle, a
2 1/2 year old terrier mix. Joyce
also has a
dog name Elvis, a 2 1/2 year old  chihuahua/bichon frise mix, that lives with
her in West Los Angeles.

Amy is originally from Tucson, Arizona, and is a new resident of California. She currently attends Pierce College in Woodland Hills, where she is enrolled in the Animal Health Technician  Program and plans to obtain her degree in animal science. After that, Amy will take the state board exam to become a Registered Veterinary Technician. At home, Amy is greeted by her two scottish fold kittens, Ritz C.  and Lexus.

Our Volunteer Program is designed to allow those interested in persuing careers as Veterinarians or Veterinary Technicians to learn basic skills and to expose them to veterinary  hospital experience in a structured learning environment. If anyone would like the learning experience provided by our Volunteer Program, there are still openings available several days  of the week. For more information on our hospital’s Volunteer Program, click here or come by the hospital and ask reception for an application.

The PET CARE FORUM

The Pet Care Forum is an on-line area made for pet owners. It includes chat rooms, bulletin boards for fanciers of all breeds and species, bulletin boards for asking questions to  veterinarians, interactive polls, and numerous pet care articles. In fact, some of you met us through the Pet Care Forum when it was located on America On-Line. Our own Dr. Brooks  has been a Pet Care Forum consultant for many years and she is currently able to answer questions there, as well as by eMail here.

This month marks the independence of the Pet Care Forum away from AOL. It is part of the  Veterinary Information Network (VIN), an online network of veterinarians forming a  professional community for mutual education and collaboration. To post questions for veterinarians, join in a chat room with others who share your particular pet-related medical interest, or find pet medical information in  their extensive libraries, we invite you to browse at:

www.vin.com/petcare

See you around the World Wide Web!

WE’VE REMODELED

    FELINE HYPERTHYROIDISM

Do you have an older cat with a weight loss problem despite an excellent appetite?  Has hyperthyroidism been diagnosed but you have questions about the different treatments? This area attempts to provide a complete resource on this subject.

Originally launched in 1997, we’ve reorganized what used to be a very long single page into a mini-website to make the information easier to access, including a separate  page listing all the facilities that offer the appropriate radiotherapy treatment. If you would like more information about feline hyperthyroidism, its causes or its treatment options, visit the “home page” of this site in The Pet Web Library.
