THIS MONTH WE INTRODUCE
SOMETHING VERY DIFFERENT
IN RABIES PROTECTION FOR CATS

PureVax Logo 1

Vaccination against Rabies is considered by the American Association of Feline Practitioners to be important for EVERY cat, whether indoors only or indoor/outdoor.  Vaccination not only protects your cat from rabies exposure from wildlife (raccoons, opossums etc.) but also limits your liability should your cat ever become frightened and bite someone.  PureVax Logo 2As safe and routine as vaccination may be, there is still room for unpleasant vaccination side effects such as fever and muscle soreness; further, a type of cancer, though rare, has come to be associated with vaccination.

Through recombinant gene technology a new rabies vaccine has been developed with the goal of eliminating these reactions.  Recombinant technology allows the elimination of chemical stabilizers called “adjuvants” from the vaccine.  This trend in vaccine techology is state of the art in both human and veterinary medicine and more recombinant vaccines are doubtlessly on the horizon as well.

THE PUREVAX VACCINE
IS CURRENTLY ONLY AVAILABLE
FOR CATS. IT IS GIVEN ANNUALLY
IN THE RIGHT REAR LEG.
