THIS MONTH WE INTRODUCE
Vaccination against Rabies is considered by the American Association of Feline Practitioners to be important for EVERY cat, whether indoors only or indoor/outdoor. Vaccination not
only protects your cat from rabies exposure from wildlife (raccoons, opossums etc.) but also limits your liability should your cat ever become frightened and bite someone. Through recombinant gene technology a new rabies vaccine has been developed with the goal of eliminating these reactions. Recombinant technology allows the elimination of chemical stabilizers called “adjuvants” from the vaccine. This trend in vaccine techology is state of the art in both human and veterinary medicine and more recombinant vaccines are doubtlessly on the horizon as well.
